This holiday is wrought with a lot of uncomfortable conversations in our family.
I understand Thanksgiving has a very sentimental meaning to a lot of people. I get that a lot of sweet and precious memories are made around the dinner table and watching football all afternoon.
And yes, I understand. It’s a day to reflect on gratitude and we could all use a little more of that in our lives right now.
But, for real, this is a holiday that was founded on the massacre of the indigenous people of the U.S.
MASSACRE.
At times, this fact makes me a pretty confrontational conversationalist while cooking a massive meal to stuff ourselves with right before spending hours cleaning the kitchen.
Thanksgiving is a holiday intended to whitewash a massacre.
Enjoy the turkey.
