White Men Will Always Bow to Power—Even at the Expense of the Women They “Love”

Travis Kelce called playing in front of Trump “a great honor.” The same Trump who has explicitly posted, “I hate Taylor Swift.” The same Trump who has spent years using his platform to rile up violent, angry men against her.
Trump’s attacks on Taylor Swift aren’t just petty insults. They are calculated. He knows exactly what he’s doing when he targets a woman like her. Because when Trump singles someone out, it’s an invitation for his most rabid, unhinged followers to step in and take the harassment to another level. We’ve seen it happen over and over again—with women, with journalists, with anyone who dares to cross him. Taylor’s already had stalkers show up armed at her house. She’s already been the subject of conspiracy theories that have led to real-world threats. She’s already had to live under extreme security measures just to survive.
And yet, even knowing all of that, her boyfriend—a man who supposedly loves her—couldn’t even manage to sidestep the question. Couldn’t even say “No comment.” Couldn’t even choose silence over ass-kissing. Instead, he bowed. Because at the end of the day, white men will always defer to other white men with power. Even when those men have openly and repeatedly tried to harm the women in their lives.
And let’s be clear: this isn’t just a Travis Kelce problem. This is a white man problem.
Time and time again, we watch white men fold when faced with a choice between standing up for the women they claim to love and protecting their access to power. We watch them excuse, deflect, minimize, and ultimately stay loyal to other men—no matter how dangerous those men are. We saw it with Trump and Brett Kavanaugh. We saw it with Trump and every powerful man accused of violence, abuse, or corruption. And now, we’re seeing it in real time with Kelce.
And if this is what happens to Taylor Swift—one of the most powerful, protected, and conventionally desirable white women on the planet—what the fuck do you think happens to the rest of us? The women without billions, without security teams, without the ability to disappear behind closed gates?
White men will always choose their own comfort over your safety. Over your dignity. Over your survival.
Misogyny and white supremacy are two sides of the same machine that keeps old white men in power and oppress everyone else. The fact that white women don’t see that is the reason we are where we are.
