Unless you’ve blissfully tuned completely out because your fortunate enough to be able to do that, you probably already know: Yesterday Trump announced that his administration intends to take ownership of the Gaza Strip—as in literal, colonialist ownership—using US military force to crush resistance, displace the Palestinian people, and rebuild the Strip like some dystopian condo association, a vacation playground for the U.S. and Israel. This is genocide, fully realized.
Meanwhile, U.S. Congress members were locked out of the Treasury. People—human fucking beings—are being shipped to Gitmo in what is shaping up to be the first outright concentration camp of this regime. And yet – AND YET. The conversation on social media right now? The main target of all this rage and energy? Not Trump. Not his administration. Not the machinery of fascism tightening around our necks. No. It’s people who, in an act of conscience, refused to vote for Kamala Harris.
Do you understand how small-minded, how pathetic that is? How much of a waste of time? The Biden administration funded the genocide, armed Israel’s military expansion, gave diplomatic cover to mass slaughter, and you’re out here blaming people who took a stand against it? As if, what, if only they’d checked the right box, we wouldn’t be in this moment? Get fucking real.
Trump is dismantling the United States, department by department, institution by institution—and you’re fixated on a postmortem of an election that Democrats chose to lose by standing by genocide. You think re-litigating that is going to save you? Save any of us?
Do you think your “righteous rage” and disappointment makes you look smarter?
Because here’s the reality: at some point in the very near future, the question won’t be “Where were the Democrats?” It’ll be “Where are the generals?” Because we are careening toward a moment in history where the fate of the world isn’t going to hinge on some liberal social media beef but on the moral compass of U.S. military leadership. If you’re a praying person, now is the time to start.
So maybe—just maybe—wake up. We don’t have time for this bullshit. We need to stop finger pointing and figure out how to survive together. Right now.
I’m not going to say “this is what they want” because you already know that.
Grow up.
We are the Palestinian people now.
We are fighting for our survival and way of life with no military against an authoritarian super power.
We don’t have time for your petty high horse preaching. Unless you’re an old, white, Christian man, they will figure out a way to come for you soon enough.
