‘A Shift To Schiff’: With Growing Calls For Trump Impeachment, Dem Leadership Plots A New Course
The path forward may not be be with House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler, who Pelosi has lost confidence in, sources say.
As the Democratic caucus headed into meetings Tuesday to discuss the possibility of impeachment, multiple Democratic sources on Capitol Hill said it remained unclear how House Speaker Nancy Pelosi would proceed, even as she has begun to sketch out how Democrats might move against Trump, whom they accuse of a variety of grave ethical lapses.
The path forward, sources say, may not involve House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., who has this far been the public face of the most consequential congressional investigations into the Trump administration. Pelosi has clashed repeatedly with the judiciary chair in recent weeks and, according to several sources, has lost confidence in him and prefers to have House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff be the public face for making the case against Trump.
“A shift to Schiff is one of the options,” a Democratic source told Yahoo News.

Democrats’ impeachment dam appears to be breaking.
A wave of moderate first-term Democrats from Trump-friendly districts, who up to this point have resisted liberal members’ calls for impeachment, got on board with an impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump late Monday night. Seven first-term Democrats from conservative districts penned a searing op-ed in the Washington Post calling for an inquiry. About two-thirds of the caucus now support an inquiry, and more are following.
So what changed their minds? New information has emerged about a whistleblower alleging the president made an inappropriate request of a foreign leader, multiple times. Subsequent reporting has revealed Trump allegedly urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden, presumably to dig up dirt on his political enemies, as Joe Biden is running for president. Trump has confirmed some of these details himself, but maintains he did nothing wrong.

Florida Cop Who Arrested 2 Elementary Kids Fired; Was Previously Charged With Child Abuse
Orlando Police have fired Officer Dennis Turner for violating department policy when he arrested two six-year-old children last week. But while Turner’s termination came swiftly (and amid widespread backlash), new light is being cast on the officer’s record of misconduct, including a previous charge of child abuse.
Orlando Police Chief Orlando Rolón expressed remorse for Turner’s recent actions as he addressed reporters at a Monday press conference announcing Turner’s firing, the Washington Post reports.
“On behalf of myself and the entire Orlando Police Department, I apologize to the children involved and their families,” Rolón said. “As a grandfather of three children less than 11 years old, I can only imagine how traumatic this was for everyone involved.”
