Astrology: Lovers and rebels and dreams, oh my!

Reading Time: 4 minutes

By:  Janette Dalgliesh – Confluence Daily is your daily news source for women in the know.

This week sees a beautiful dance between two planets who are often seen as having opposing world views.

But think dance-off, not war. Wild beats, smoldering looks, luxurious seduction, and unapologetic desire.

First up, Venus moves into Aquarius on 1 March, 11.45am US Eastern time, taking up residence in this Uranus-ruled sign for just a few weeks.

And then Uranus moves into Venus-ruled Taurus on 6 March, 3.28am US Eastern time, for a seven-year stretch.

The technical term is ‘mutual reception’, where two planets move into each other’s signs.

Venus, goddess of love and desire, associated with our deepest core values.

Uranus, rebel god of unexpected change and breaker of old rules and paradigms.

We’ve had this combination at play not long ago, when Venus and Uranus took up positions opposite each other in the sky.

This is a little different.

This time, it’s not planets shining spotlights on each other from across the round table.

This time, each planet can temporarily see things from the other’s perspective, so they have a kind of synergistic effect, strengthening both.

What does that mean for us?

It gives a turbo-boost to that seven-year period of Uranus in Taurus, for a start, as though Venus bestows her blessing on Uranus, showering his move into her own sign with all good things so he can bring his potential for transformation to her world.

And it brings a fresh new perspective into our capacity for knowing exactly what we want.

Being able to acknowledge and articulate one’s own desires is a crucial part of living an authentic life, one which truly delights us.

I’m not talking about the fulfillment of desire (another fine topic, for another day).

I’m talking about the step before that, the piece where we can clearly express our desire without shame or apology or hesitation.

And that’s not a common place for us modern humans to be.

We get told what we SHOULD want, by parents or teachers or counselors or mentors.

We get distracted by the latest shiny thing which one simply MUST HAVE.

We get told that people like us aren’t supposed to want That Thing because it’s not big enough / small enough / feasible enough.

We get despondent because we hold our desire responsible for our joy, and if it doesn’t come we blame it for our misery.

And we give up on desires when they don’t behave in the way we thought they should.

This beautiful planetary mutual reception casts a glow over the whole of our relationship with our own desires, as well as our usual operating style in the areas of love, romance, and partnerships of all kinds.

Being aware of the potential for transformation is key.

I wrote a little while back about top tips to prep for the Uranus in Taurus dynamic, so it’s worth checking those out and implementing what feels good.

And you can prep for the Venus into Aquarius dynamic, too. Here are a few ideas:

If your relationship is feeling a little stale or flat, don’t go blaming your beloved! Instead, open your mind to some new and fresh ways of relating to your sweetie, planning for adventure in the bedroom or out in the world together. Imagine hiking through new territory together, whether literal or metaphorical

Honour Venus in ways that are new, unconventional, and yet very YOU. If you would normally have an altar with flowers on it, try using self-adornment as a ritual to Venus. If you would normally take care of your physical body as an act of honouring Venus, try making something beautiful for her as an offering – perhaps some handmade bead jewelry or a beautiful bouquet picked from your garden

Create beauty in your space in whatever way you can. Venus adores beauty of all kinds, and loves art and music. Make a painting and hang it. Play beautiful music. Light delicious incense, or bake cookies just for the aroma. Read poetry – or write Venus a poem yourself!

Get completely unapologetic with your own desires. Sit down with paper and pen, and let rip. Not in order to make something happen, or to plan for the future, or figure out the how. As you do so, examine each item and ask ‘is that REALLY what I want?’ and ‘is that really what *I* want or did I learn that desire from someone else?’. What old desires are no longer relevant, but have become a husk of a habit? What new desires might replace them?  **

And in amongst all this, remember we have Mercury already in shadow and ready to turn Retrograde in Pisces on 5 March at 12.15pm Eastern US time. That’s going to make everything very open to flux and change, full of breakthroughs and mysteries and potential.

It’s a great time to keep a dream journal by the bed and spend a little time allowing waking dreams during the day.

Adding to that, we also have a New Moon in Pisces happening 6 March at 11:05 AM Eastern US time. Tap in to this one via meditation, losing yourself in a good book, immersing in the world of dreams and the imagination.

There’s so much fabulous potential for connecting with our dreams over the next week and beyond!

But if it begins to feel too dreamy and swirly, too enigmatic and wild – then lean into that Uranus in Taurus energy and let it ground you. Nurture your body, get into nature, tend your spaces lovingly.

Wishing you a beautiful week filled with beautiful dreams and epiphanies; because that’s the kind of week it can be.

**If dabbling in unapologetic desire seems scary or too hard, that’s a good sign that it might be one from which you would benefit. For extra support with that, check out my upcoming program Unapologetic Desire, and/or my Venus Reclaimed astrology consult. Either or both would be incredibly supportive for this kind of work.
