Does Your Anxiety Support a Conspiracy Theory

Reading Time: 4 minutes Fear-mongering is intended to inflame the emotions, fears, and anxiety of good people to ensure they cast their ballots in the box that serves the ones doing the fear-mongering.

I don’t for one minute believe that every person who is stirred to feel fear is complicit in anti-Semitism or any other conspiracy. But unfortunately whether a person claims to be a racist or not, whether someone claims to hate Jews or not – their anxiety can still be used to fuel the fire of anti-Semitic conspiracies and propaganda.

This same conspiracy is responsible for the demise of six million European Jews during the Holocaust. We must not be ignorant of such devices.

In the words of Martin Luther King Jr, “Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.”

Ignorance is bliss. Until it isn’t.

There Will Be No Legislative Agenda for the Newly Minted Democratic House but That Doesn’t Mean They Don’t Have a Job To Do

Reading Time: 3 minutes My open plea to the Dems is that they choose leadership who is prepared to fight. My deepest request to the DNC is that they install a Chairperson who has four stars on a uniform and knows how to do one thing, at any cost, which is winning a war.

At any cost might sound overly-dramatic, unrealistic, or even unwise. However, just because we won the House doesn’t mean we’re aren’t still fighting to save our democracy.

For now, the voting is over. We’ve done our part. Now it’s their turn to do what we elected them to do – and it has nothing to do with impossibly non-productive conversations about wages, immigration, health care, or infrastructure. We hired them to save our democracy. We need to be prepared to support them in doing a lot of things that won’t look or feel like politics as usual.

Movie Review: Bohemian Rhapsody

Reading Time: 2 minutes The challenge with making a movie that does a man like Freddie Mercury justice is he was bigger and more complex than something that fits on a screen. Rami Malek, playing Freddie was really good, but not great. At times it felt like he was playing more of a one-dimensional concept of Mercury. Often it felt like his attempts at catching Mercury’s genius turned him into a meme of Freddie Mercury feeling more gratuitous than genuine. I’m not sure who could have done it better than Remi Malek, but it wasn’t quite sharp enough. If I was a lifelong Mercury super-fan, I can imagine I might not have enjoyed the performance.

Seven Day Checklist to Reclaiming Your Sanity

Reading Time: 5 minutes Poetry is powerful medicine. I know some people who might say poetry isn’t their jam. However, I’d say it’s because they haven’t found the right poet.

Some of the greatest thinkers of our time and in history of express(ed) themselves in poetry. Poets have a way of seeing life, love, struggle, and triumph as art. The right poet can shift the way you see things through prose without effort.

Everyday Real World Actions for the Spiritually Awakened

Reading Time: 4 minutes The collective consciousness is undergoing a huge leveling up, we can all feel it. The current ways of life aren’t able to justify their existence. People all over, in huge numbers, are asking questions about where we are as a human race and about who we are as individuals. Values and beliefs are under the scanner and the powers that be are rushing to add smoke to the view ahead.

So it’s no wonder we can feel like we are living under the rule of tyrant and nothing we do is setting us free.

Nothing is further from the truth.

Each step in the desired direction is a step away from the current reality. Small things add up to BIG changes.

We know this intellectually but we need to believe it from the heart. Anything we do to change our own actions or when we show up just little different, a little more conscious than before, we are collectively better off than we were before.
