The App Lobbyists Don’t Want You to Know About
By: C. Neal
Ever felt the need to take action but didn’t know for sure how? Perhaps you knew that something needed to be said or done but you didn’t know the lingo, like the bill numbers or other details like who to reach out to. Your inability to come up with these details is what beltway lobbyists and major DC institutions count on to ensure their voice is heard louder than yours in the halls of Congress. So what can we do about this problem? Alas, there is an app for that.
5 Calls has been taking the political world by storm since it’s launch in January 2017 because it helps everyday folks like you and I better understand who we need to be talking to and how we should speak to them to enact the change we wish to see in our country. That’s right, the app not only tells you what congressional offices to reach out to but it provides a script to help with the call. It also has a feature to log your call allowing for tracking of the data, which is so valuable in politics. And it works via app or mobile site so there is no excuses this time. Whether it’s protecting Robert Muller, gun control, or the environment, 5 Calls (most likely) has an option for what you care about.
Now, we must point out that 5 Calls has a left-leaning slant. However, it was designed as an open source product, meaning that it would be relatively easy for someone with a right-wing perspective to use their back-end software to make a similar app.
Now the only question is: What issue will you be calling your Congresspeople about today?
